BII and FMO collaborate to provide $50 million financing for BECIS

British International Investment (BII), the UK’s development finance institution and impact investor, along with FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, have revealed a shared commitment of $50 million in loans to BECIS for assisting renewable sector in India and Southeast Asia’s commercial and industrial sector.

The collaborative funding will support BECIS’ growth initiatives and bolster their innovative energy offerings throughout India, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. This addresses the increasing need for sustainable and cost-effective energy solutions in these regions. This initiative will aid India in reaching its target of attaining 40 GW of rooftop solar capacity by 2026, as part of a broader objective to install 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

BECIS provides a comprehensive range of services, including rooftop solar, bioenergy, and energy efficiency solutions, customised to address the varied requirements of businesses and communities throughout Asia. Demonstrating a firm dedication to sustainability, BECIS utilizes cutting-edge technologies and strategic alliances to optimise energy usage, encourage the uptake of renewable energy resources, improve operational effectiveness, develop robust energy infrastructure, and foster energy education within communities. By expanding its portfolio to 346 MW by 2025, BECIS seeks to prevent the emission of 319,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions annually. This will be achieved by providing cleaner and more cost-effective electricity to its clients, thereby displacing conventional grid-based power sources.
