TotalEnergies has announced the building of a new battery storage facility in Belgium, with operations slated to begin by the end of 2025. The project will be situated at the TotalEnergies depot in Feluy, Belgium, and will have a 75 MWh capacity with a 25 MW power rating.
Saft, a TotalEnergies subsidiary that specialises in battery technology solutions, will supply the system’s technology in the form of forty Intensium Max High Energy lithium-ion (Li-ion) containers. TotalEnergies will have a 150 MWh total combined storage capacity in Belgium once the Feluy and Antwerp facilities are operational. Two projects reflect around $75.79 million of global investment.
In December 2023, TotalEnergies signed a second contract with LyondellBasel to supply a combined 275 MWac (358 MW) of green electricity sourced from its utility-scale Cottonwood Bayou and Brazoria Solar farms in Texas. Through the newly signed 15-year CPPA, LyondellBasell will offtake 163 MW from Brazoria Solar farm, located southwest of Houston, with a capacity of 325 MW and a commercial start-up planned for end of 2025.
