Malaysia’s Sunview Group, a renewable energy firm, is currently engaged in discussions with Uzbekistan officials regarding the construction of a 500 MW solar PV facility in the Qashqadaryo region. Valued at $1 billion, the plant is set to be funded through foreign direct investments and is slated for completion within a year of the official agreement’s signing.
As per reports, Uzbek authorities anticipate that enhancing the nation’s energy infrastructure will decrease reliance on energy imports from Russia and remittances, which totaled $17 billion in 2022, equivalent to 21 percent of the gross domestic product.
Sunview, headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, is a Malaysian energy enterprise. In the fiscal year 2023, ending in March of the previous year, the company disclosed revenues of RM 347 million, a significant increase from the preceding year’s RM 99.3 million.
