Results for GUVNL’s auction to develop 1,125 MW of grid-connected solar power projects have been announced. The tender was issued in January 2024. The projects will be set up in Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited’s (GSECL) renewable energy park at Khavda, stage 3. Solairecraft (Engie) has won 200 MW by quoting 2.62 per kWh. While, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has won 225 MW by quoting 2.67 per kWh. Other companies have won the following capacities: NHPC – 200 MW, JSW Neo Energy – 300 MW, and SJVN Limited – 200 MW, by quoting Rs 2.66 per kWh.
The company will enter into a 30 year power purchase agreement with the developers. In order to minimise technological uncertainties and guarantee the prompt commissioning of projects, only commercially proven and operational technologies are allowed for implementation. The declared annual capacity utilisation factor (CUF) should be at least 17 per cent. The winning developers are required to maintain annual CUF ranging between +10 per cent and -15 per cent of the declared value. Furthermore, GUVNL has mandated the use of indigenously manufactured solar modules listed in list-I of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.
Recently, in February 2024, results were announced for GUVNL’s auction to develop 600 MW of grid-connected solar power projects, phase XXI. By quoting Rs 2.54 per kWh, SJVN Green Energy won 100 MW. While SAEL Industries and Coal India have won 200 MW and 300 MW, respectively, by quoting Rs 2.55 per kWh.
