Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has issued a request for proposals to purchase power from 420 MW solar projects under component A of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) programme.
A minimum of 1 MW and a maximum of 2 MW of solar projects can be installed at a single place by individual farmers, groups of farmers, cooperatives, panchayats, farmer producer organisations, and water user associations. Furthermore, renewable project developers may establish these projects on behalf of farmers. In order to support long-term sustainability in solar energy generation, the projects are anticipated to facilitate TANGEDCO to acquire solar electricity through power purchase agreements with a 25-year contractual duration. The bidders are required to submit Rs 100,000 per MW as an earnest money deposit. The bid submission deadline is February 26, 2024.
The bidders are required to provide scanned copies of the registered land documents for the intended project site, with an approximate requirement of 3.704 acres per MW. A renewable power generator (RPG) is limited to applying for only one renewable power project for a particular sub-station/feeder. Additionally, both bids will be rejected if the proprietor, partner, director, or member of any RPG puts a bid for another RPG for the same sub-station.
In February 2023, TANGEDCO floated bids for 420 MW of solar power under Component A of the PM-KUSUM programme.
