SJVN declares winners of its 1,500 MW solar auction

Results for SJVN’s auction to develop 1,500 MW of inter-state transmission system connected solar power projects have been announced. The tender was issued in November 2023. The projects will be set up anywhere in India. By quoting Rs 2.52 per kWh, Solarcraft Power India 8 (Blupine Energy) and GRT Jewellers have won 300 MW and 150 MW, respectively. While Furies Solren (Mahindra & Mahindra) and JSW Neo Energy have won 300 MW and 700 MW, respectively, by quoting Rs 2.53 per kWh. While, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited won 50 MW at a rate of Rs 2.54 per kWh.

The winning bidders are accountable for land acquisition for the project. Furthermore, SJVN has mandated the use of indigenously manufactured solar modules listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.

Recently, in February 2024, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) received a letter of intent from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited for setting up a 200 MW solar power project in Gujarat. In the same month, SGEL issued a tender for the selection of developers for developing 1,500 MW inter-state transmission system connected wind-solar hybrid projects in India.

In January 2024, SJVN obtained the government’s approval to establish four joint venture entities for the advancement of hydro and renewable projects, combining a total capacity of 8,778 MW in both India and Nepal.
