NHPC Limited has issued a request for proposals to deliver power from 1,200 MW inter-state transmission connected wind projects, tranche II. Six states—Tamil Nadu (500 MW), Andhra Pradesh (250 MW), Maharashtra (200 MW), Telangana (100 MW), Madhya Pradesh (100 MW), and Karnataka (50 MW)—will share a total capacity of 1,200 MW for injection at ISTS substations.
According to the tender guidelines, the bidders are required to submit earnest money deposit equaling Rs 1.26 million per MW. The successful bidder is accountable for both the wind power project and the dedicated transmission network till the delivery point. The chosen bidder is obligated to secure all necessary approvals, permits, and clearances essential for both the project and the dedicated transmission network. The bid submission deadline is February 28, 2024.
The minimum and maximum project size must be 50 MW and 600 MW, respectively. The projects can be developed in increments of 10 MW. The bidders are free to suggest varying tariffs for projects in different states. The bidders are required to provide a uniform tariff for all projects within each state, effective for the entire 25-year duration. There is no expectation of additional financial support from the central government for the execution of the projects selected under this tender.
Recently, in January 2024, NHPC Limited invited expression of interest from companies based in India and globally for empaneling to set up offshore wind projects in India. In the same month, NHPC Limited and Gujarat Power Corporation Limited signed a MoU to invest in the 750 MW Kuppa pumped hydro storage project.
