Bimal Jindal: Chief Operating Officer, Welspun New Energy Limited

Bimal Jindal is chief operating officer, Welspun New Energy Limited. In the past, he has worked with companies such as Larsen & Toubro, SB Energy, SunEdison and Alstom. With over two decades of diversified experience in decision-making roles, he has contributed to green hydrogen projects, power plants (solar, wind, hybrid, hydro, thermal and gas), airports, and oil and gas projects. He was instrumental in developing over 14 GW of renewable, large hydro and green hydrogen projects in the Asia-Pacific, US, Middle East and African markets. He was also invo­l­ved in offshore gas discovery while working at Reliance Industries Limited, and was part of the core team that developed Mumbai Airport (GVK). He has received awards such as the “Grand Master Award for SCM”, “Procurement Head of the Year” and “RE Leaders of Tomorrow”.

“On the personal front, I would like to continue my passion for travelling and explore new destinations every year with my family. On the professional front, I, along with my company, would like to play a significant role in the renewables space and be a part of India’s decarbonisation journey in the coming years,” he says. He also enjoys watching movies and web series, and playing cricket.

Jindal holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, a postgraduate diploma in supply chain management from IMT, Ghaziabad, and a black belt in operations excellence.
