Ameya Joshi is assistant general manager, corporate finance, Continuum Green Energy. He has around 12 years of experience in project and corporate finance, and the risk management domain. Prior to completing his postgraduation, he worked with Larsen & Toubro in the hydrocarbon division, gaining practical on-ground experience regarding the entire project life cycle. Since then, he has worked extensively in project and corporate finance, financing transactions for various infrastructure deals in sectors such as renewables, roads, urban infrastructure and ports, as well as manufacturing-linked sectors, across roles at ICICI Bank, YES Bank and L&T Finance.
At Continuum Green Energy, he has been involved in raising funds for financing of greenfield projects in the domestic market, as well as corporate financing of transactions in the international offshore bond market. He has also played pivotal roles in contributing to equity fundraise exercises and devising company strategy. Joshi claims that the excitement of his job lies in the opportunity to learn something different each day.
According to Joshi, the key parameters being considered with respect to financing of renewable energy projects in India include the rising interest rate scenario hurting internal rate of return thresholds, right-of-way challenges leading to project delays and cost overruns, non-availability of resource-rich sites, changing environmental patterns, and the pace of grid connectivity enhancement in light of the visibility of economically viable storage solutions. However, he is optimistic that the power sector is undergoing a massive transformation, with the government focusing on promoting renewables. Going forward, innovative regulatory changes and financing solutions will lead the way in catering to the huge investment opportunities in the sector.
Joshi believes in creating a holistic, win-win atmosphere, which leads to both the desired organisational outcomes, and personal and professional growth and satisfaction. His professional goal is to get involved in structuring innovative financing transactions across emerging sectors, to leave a long-lasting, sustainable impact on future generations. He believes this will also help satisfy his personal desire of giving back to society.
In his free time, he likes to travel around the world and trek in the mountains. He holds a BTech from VJTI, Mumbai, and a post-graduate diploma in management studies from the Indian Institute of Management, Indore.
