THDC India Limited has recently announced a successful launch of its pilot green hydrogen project in accordance with the National Green Hydrogen Mission at its office complex in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. The project is one of India’s largest green hydrogen projects so far.
The chairman and managing director of THDCIL stated that the pilot project aims to generate 50 kgs of green hydrogen daily, utilising energy input from a 1 MW rooftop solar plant. The green hydrogen produced will be stored in two storage tanks and later employed during nighttime to power a 70-kW proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell that will illuminate the THDCIL office complex. The project will be the most significant fuel cell-based electrolyser pilot project in India.
In January 2024, THDC India Limited issued tender to invite consultants for preparing a detailed project report to set up a 1,000 MW ultra-mega solar park, phase I, in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
In November 2023, THDC India Limited signed two MoUs with Karnataka Power Corporation Limited and Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited to establish cumulative 3,270 MW renewable energy projects.
