NHPC invites EoI for offshore wind projects

NHPC Limited has invited expression of interest (EoI) from companies based in India and globally for empaneling to set up offshore wind projects. To be located in India, the projects’ empanelment timeline will be five years.

NHPC aims to partner with companies possessing considerable expertise in the global development of offshore wind power projects through the Eol process. NHPC also plans to collaborate with the empanelled companies to prepare and present bids for concessions issued by the government or its agencies, aiming for setting up offshore wind power projects in India under a build-own-operate framework. The bid submission deadline is February 17, 2024.

To be eligible, those submitting bids must have accomplished the commissioning of a minimum of 100 MW in global offshore wind energy capacity. They are required to have established environmental, quality assurance, health, and safety policies tailored for offshore wind project infrastructure in accordance with international standards.

Recently, in January 2024, NHPC Limited and Gujarat Power Corporation Limited signed an MoU to invest in the envisioned 750 MW Kuppa pumped hydro storage project.

In November 2023, Avaada Energy won 1,400 MW DC solar project from NHPC Limited at a tariff of Rs 2.53 per kWh.
