ENGIE collaborates with Gujarat government for decarbonisation and clean energy initiatives

During the 10th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024, ENGIE and government of Gujarat have signed MoUs to collaborate on a decarbonisation initiative, aiming to advance the development of a clean energy infrastructure in the state. This collaboration signifies a noteworthy contribution to Gujarat’s efforts toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy transition.

ENGIE pledges to initiate a greenfield establishment of 2.5 GW of clean energy projects at different sites in Gujarat by 2030. This commitment is in addition to their ongoing work on a 400 MW solar project in Surendernagar. With an investment of Rs 172 billion, the MoU will lead to creation of 14,000 new employment opportunities.

The collaboration goes beyond renewable energy, involving joint endeavors in decarbonisation projects, enhancing expertise in risk management for gas or liquified natural gas trading, and investigating the possibility of consolidating ENGIE’s financial operations in India at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City.

In November 2023, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited awarded a 400 MW solar project to ENGIE as a part of its 750 MW, Phase XVI, auction process.

In the same month, RenewSys signed a 100 MW solar module supply agreement with Engie India to deliver monocrystalline bifacial glass-backsheet modules for GUVNL 2 project of Engie India.
