SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) has inked a power usage agreement with Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) to deliver 200 MW of solar power. SGEL will supply power from a 1,000 MW Bikaner project in Rajasthan. SJVN is developing the solar project in Rajasthan through SGEL as part of the central public sector undertaking scheme under Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency. The construction cost of the ongoing project amounts to Rs 54.91 billion. It is being developed in adherence to the domestic content requirement mode and is slated for commissioning by April 2024.
The electricity produced by the project will be utilised by government entities, either directly or through distribution by discoms. The project is anticipated to produce 2,455 million units in the initial year and approximately 56,838 million units cumulatively over a 25-year period. Additionally, it is expected to contribute to 2,785,077 tonnes reduction in carbon emissions.
In November 2023, SGEL signed a power purchase agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India for 200 MW grid-connected wind power project.
In the same month, SGEL signed an MoU with Ocean Sun. Under the agreement, SGEL will undertake the development and funding of a trial floating solar project using membrane technology at a suitable site in India.
