Results for Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited’s (GUVNL) auction to develop 500 MW of grid-connected wind power projects, phase VI, have been announced. The tender for the project was issued in July 2023. To be located anywhere in India, the project was tendered with an additional greenshoe option of 500 MW. By quoting Rs 3.42 per kWh and Rs 3.44 per kWh, Alfanar Projects and Juniper Green Energy have won 50 MW and 90 MW, respectively. While EDF Renewables have won 24 MW by quoting Rs 3.45 per kWh. Of the total tendered capacity, only 164 MW was auctioned.
The winning developers are required to enter into power purchase agreement (PPA) with GUVNL for a period of 25 years and to maintain at least 22 per cent annual capacity utilisation factor. The winners are required to commission the projects within 24 months of the PPA being signed.
Recently, in December 2023, GUVNL announced results for its 500 MW of grid-connected solar power projects, phase XXII. By quoting Rs 2.63 per kWh and Rs 2.64 per kWh, SJVN Green Energy Limited and Hinduja Renewables Energy have won 100 MW and 140 MW, respectively. While Avaada Energy and Blupine Energy have won 100 MW and 50 MW by quoting Rs 2.65 per kWh.
In the same month, GUVNL issued tender to select developers for the development of 250 MW/500 MWh (250 MW x 2 hours) standalone battery energy storage systems for on demand use in Gujarat.
