KERC approves tariff of Rs 3.57 per kWh for rooftop solar projects

The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has granted a favorable decision to two rooftop solar consumers, affirming their eligibility for a tariff of Rs 3.57 per kWh for the net energy injected into the grid. Nevertheless, the commission clarified that the right to this entitlement depends on the petitioners entering into new power purchase agreements within a two-month timeframe.

In November 2023, for the fiscal year 2023–2024, the KERC approved Rs 1.40 per kWh as an additional surcharge for consumers using green energy open access power.

In July 2023, Gadag II-A Transmission announced that it got approval from the Ministry of Power (MoP) to develop overhead transmission lines for solar projects totalling 1,500 MW in Gadag, Karnataka.

In June 2023, ReNew Energy Global Plc announced the commissioning of two clean energy projects in Karnataka’s Vijaynagara district for Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Sandur Manganese and Iron Ores.
