NTPC declares winners of its 1,500 MW wind-solar hybrid auction

Results for NTPC Limited’s auction to develop 1,500 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected wind-solar hybrid power projects have been announced. The tender for the project was issued in October 2023. The project will be located anywhere in India. By quoting Rs 3.35 per kWh, O2 Power and Sprng Energy have won 300 MW and 250 MW, respectively. ACME Cleantech Soutions and Juniper Green Energy have won 300 MW and 230 MW by quoting Rs 3.36 per kWh. While Avaada Energy has won 24 MW by quoting Rs 3.37 per kWh. Of the total tendered capacity, only 1,104 MW was auctioned.

Furthermore, NTPC has mandated the use of indigenously manufactured solar modules listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers. Additionally, under the tender, only type-certified wind-turbine models issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, listed in Revised list of Models and Manufacturers will be allowed. The developers will be accountable for developing ISTS connectivity for the projects.

Recently, in December 2023, NTPC Limited issued tender to select solar power generators for 1,500 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind-solar hybrid projects, tranche IV, anywhere in India.
