Gentari buys 49 per cent stake in Hai Long offshore wind project in Taiwan

Gentari, through its subsidiary Gentari International Renewables Pte Ltd has added offshore wind capacity into its portfolio, following an investment into the Hai Long offshore wind project located off the Changhua coast in the Taiwan Straits. Gentari has bought a 49 per cent stake in the project owned by Northland Power Inc.

Northland now holds a 30.6 per cent ownership interest in the overall project and will continue to take the lead role in the construction and operation of the project developed as a joint venture between Northland and Japan-based Mitsui & Co. The project comprises two phases and a projected combined generating capacity of 1,022 MW. Once operational, Hai Long will provide enough clean energy to power more than one million households as well as industrial facilities in Taiwan.

In February 2023, Wirsol Energy and its assets were purchased by Gentari Renewables Australia from the German renewables group Wircon. Wirsol Energy, which entered the Australian market in 2017, owns and operates renewable energy and storage projects in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland. It has 422 MW of operational solar and storage projects and nearly double that amount in development.
