SECI declares winners for its 1 GW solar auction

Results for Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) auction to develop 1,000 MW of inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power projects, tranche XII, have been announced. The tender for the project was issued in October 2023. By quoting Rs 2.52 per kWh, Avaada Energy, Sprng Energy, ReNew have won 300 MW, 250 MW, and 300 MW, respectively. While Blupine Energy won 150 MW by quoting Rs 2.53 per kWh.

SECI intends to distribute the acquired electricity generated from the projects to various organisations through a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA). The winners are required to commission the projects within 24 months of the PPA being signed. Furthermore, SECI has mandated the use of indigenously manufactured solar modules listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.

Recently, in December 2023, SECI issued tenders for developing 1,350 MW ISTS-connected wind projects, tranche-XVI with a greenshoe option of additional 700 MW. The projects will be situated in Gujarat, Karnataka, and Rajasthan with a capacity of 1,000 MW, 250 MW, and 100 MW, with greenshoe option of 500 MW, 150 MW, and 50 MW, respectively.

In the same month, SECI issued tender for selection of renewable power developers for delivering 1,000 MW ISTS-connected firm and dispatchable power anywhere in India.
