The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has issued a request for proposals to develop grid-connected rooftop solar projects aggregating 500 MW. To be developed under renewable energy service company model on a net metering basis, the projects will be set up on government or semi government buildings, including other institutions in the state.
According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work under the project includes designing, manufacturing, supplying, erecting, testing, and, commissioning of rooftop solar systems with capacities ranging between 25 kW to 2,000 kW. The bidders are required to look after operations and maintenance for a period of 25 years. Furthermore, the bidders are required to furnish Rs 1 million as an earnest money deposit. Within 30 days of receiving the letter of award, the developers are required to submit Rs 1 million of the allocated capacity as a performance bank guarantee. The bid submission deadline is January 2, 2024.
Although a single project may comprise several rooftop units, each unit has the capability to connect to the grid independently and may be equipped with individual meters. Furthermore, UPNEDA has mandated the use of indigenously manufactured solar modules and cells listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.
In October 2023, UPNEDA and The Nature Conservancy India signed a MoU to boost utility-scale solar and wind energy projects in the state.
In May 2023, UPNEDA requested bids to build and commission grid-connected solar power systems for 1,000 agricultural pumps under Component C1 of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan programme.
