Green Infra Wind Energy Limited (GIWEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries has bagged a 300 MW solar project. The company won the project from NHPC Limited as a part of its 3,000 MW tender issued in 2023. It will undertake the project on the basis of build, own, and operate model. Under a 25-year power purchase agreement, the funding for the project will come from internal resources and loans, with the anticipated commercial operation in 2026.
In November 2023, GIWEL entered into a contract with Leap Green Energy, a power producer based in India, to acquire two special purpose vehicles that possess 228 MW of operational wind assets in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan.
Currently, GIWEL manages 801.2 MW of wind-based power projects situated in seven locations across four distinct states.
