Thermax wins over Rs 5 billion contract for setting up five bio-CNG plants

One of the subsidiaries of Thermax Limited has won a contract of over Rs 5 billion for the establishment of five bio-CNG facilities throughout India. Thermax has bagged this order from a leading energy conglomerate. To be located in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, the project will be capable of generating 110 tonnes per day (TPD) of bio-CNG.

The plants will utilise indigenous raw materials surpassing 1,000 TPD, such as rice straw, napier grass, cane trash, and soya trash. The produced bio-CNG will be employed by the consumer for both commercial and captive purposes. This constitutes a component of Thermax’s broader effort to introduce solutions in the realms of biochemicals and bioenergy.

In March 2023, Thermax Limited and Fortescue Future Industries signed a MoU to explore green hydrogen projects including new manufacturing facilities in India. Under the MoU, Thermax and FFI plan to explore opportunities to jointly develop fully integrated green hydrogen projects for commercial and industrial customers in India.
