In an effort to reduce carbon emissions, Adani Power Limited (APL) has revealed plans to incorporate green ammonia alongside traditional coal fuel in the 330 MW boiler at its Mundra facility in Gujarat. The quantity of green ammonia will be 20 per cent of the total fuel required.
Additionally, Adani Power has collaborated with IHI and Kowa-Japan for the pilot project and is exploring the possibility of extending this initiative to other APL units and facilities. The Mundra power station’s equipment is being simulated in combustion tests at IHI’s facility in Japan, incorporating a 20 per cent blend of ammonia. The Mundra plant is the first place chosen for this innovative green effort outside of Japan. The project has been chosen under the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation, a research organisation in Japan.
In August 2023, Mundra Solar Energy announced the commissioning of its 2 GW solar cells and modules manufacturing facility in Mundra, Gujarat. In May 2023, Adani Wind Energy Kutchh Five Limited inaugurated a 130 MW wind power plant in Gujarat, Kutch.
