KERC halves additional surcharge for GEOA consumers

For the fiscal year 2023–2024, the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has approved Rs 1.40 per kWh as an additional surcharge for consumers using green energy open access (GEOA) power. Additionally, for all open access users purchasing renewable power, the commission has reduced the additional surcharge from Rs 1.48 per kWh to Re 0.7 per kWh.

Moreover, the commission highlighted that captive consumption is not subject to additional surcharge. The previously paid additional surcharge by open access consumers will be reconciled, and any difference will be settled with the power distribution companies.
