Uttar Pradesh government to build 550 MW solar project

The government of Uttar Pradesh is set to develop solar facilities covering an extensive 1,700-hectare area along the Bundelkhand expressway. This initiative represents the state’s venture into developing its first solar expressway as a part of public-private partnership model, expected to generate power from 550 MW capacity. The main goal is to provide power to around 100,000 households along the expressway.

With a projected 25-year lifespan, this project will be implemented under the direction of the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority. Advancing through the project’s preliminary phases, the due diligence study has been finished and the expression of interest phase was completed in August 2023.

In October 2023, THDC India Limited issued a tender for engineering, procurement, and construction of a 11 MW AC floating solar project at the Khurja super thermal plant site at Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. In the same month, the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency and The Nature Conservancy India signed a MoU to boost utility-scale solar and wind energy projects in the state.
