SGEL signs agreement with SECI for 200 MW wind project

SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) has signed a power purchase agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for 200 MW grid-connected wind power project. SGEL had won the engineering, procurement, and construction contract from SECI under tariff-based competitive bidding process at a tariff of Rs 3.24 per kWh. The project will be set up on the basis of build, own, and operate model and will be set up anywhere in India. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 14 billion.

Furthermore, the project is expected to be commissioned by November 2025. The project is anticipated to produce 482 million units in its first-year post-commissioning, with an estimated cumulative energy generation of 12,050 million units over the 25-year period.

Recently, in November 2023, SGEL received letter of intent from Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited for supplying power from 200 MW solar project. UPCL will procure power at a rate of Rs 2.57 per unit from 1,000 MW Bikaner solar project in Rajasthan.

In the same month, SGEL signed a MoU with Ocean Sun, Norway. SGEL would undertake the development and funding of a trial floating solar project using membrane technology at a suitable site in India.
