NHPC declares winners in its 3 GW solar auction

NHPC has declared winners of its auction to set up 3 GW of interstate transmission system-connected solar power projects. While the tender was oversubscribed with 15 bidders, the reverse auction finally resulted in allocation of projects to 8 bidders. The winning bids were in the range of Rs 2.52-2.53 per kWh.

The lowest bid of Rs 2.52 per kWh was quoted by Solairedirect Energy (ENGIE) that went on to win 250 MW. All the other seven winning bids were at Rs 2.53 per kWh. Avaada Energy secured the largest capacity of 1 GW followed by Jakson Limited with 400 MW. Other winners included Green Infra Wind Energy (300 MW), Mahindra arm Hazel Hybren (300 MW), Apraava Energy (250 MW), Hinduja Renewable Energy (250 MW) and Sprng Energy (250 MW).

NHPC has been quite active in issuing tenders in the recent months. It recently issued a request for proposals for 1,500 MW inter-state transmission system connected wind-solar hybrid projects, with or without storage. It also issued a tender for the selection of project developers to deliver firm and dispatchable power from 1,500 MW inter-state transmission system connected renewable projects, including energy storage systems.
