NTPC commissions a wind project in Gujarat

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC, has declared commercial operation of  its first project of 50 MW wind on November 4 , 2023. The project is located at Dayapar in Gujarat. This new project addition takes the company’s total installed power capacity to 73,874 MW. With this project completion, the total operational renewable energy of NTPC now stands at 3,364 MW.

Reportedly, this project is also the first set up declared commercial under new IEGC code and GNA regime. Dayapar Wind Project is the first project of NTPC REL. Apart from this, there are 15 other renewables projects that are under different stages of execution and this totals 6,210 MW of capacity in total.  Further, when fully commissioned, Dayapar Wind Complex shall be adding 450 MW to NTPC’s existing 100 MW wind portfolio.

NTPC REL in addition to solar and wind capacity, is also investing in green hydrogen technologies. NGEL, another wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC,  has commissioned 2,711 MW of renewables capacity and is setting up 2 solar projects including 40 MW Solar at Ayodhya and a hydrogen hub at Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh. As part of its long-term growth plan and sustainability, NTPC targets to have 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032 and now has a pipeline of more than 20 GW of renewable energy capacity.
