RERC approves tariff of Rs 4 per kWh for 490 MW hybrid project

The Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) has granted approval to Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) for an average tariff of Rs 4 per kWh for the purchase of power from Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) 490 MW of hybrid power projects (combination of solar and pumped storage).

Earlier, Greenko Energies Private Limited (GEPL) emerged as a winner in the tender for 900 MW hybrid project issued by SECI at a tariff of Rs 6.12 per kWh. Later, GEPL revised the capacity to 490 MW for supply of energy to RUVNL for a period of 25 years at a tariff of Rs 4 per kWh. This includes Rs 0.07 per kWh trading margin paid to SECI.

Recently, in September 2023, RERC provided approval to RUVNL for the extension of power purchase agreement by five years with 12 wind power generators at a tariff of Rs 2.44 per kWh for the extended period.

In June 2023, RERC announced the completion of new regulations covering Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPOs) for entities with obligations in the state. The decision came after the Ministry of Power recently established RPO trajectories for several clean energy sources.
