Shakti Pumps secures Rs 1.49 billion order for solar pumps

Shakti Pumps has secured a Rs 1.49 billion order from Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited under Component C of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan scheme (PM-KUSUM). The scope of work under the contract involves supplying, installation, and commissioning solar water pumps.

This project entails upgrading existing grid-connected electric pump systems with brushless direct current solar pump systems powered by solar energy. The excess electricity can be transmitted to the grid, offering advantages to farmers throughout India. It improves irrigation capacity, decreases reliance on conventional energy sources, and offers farmers the prospect of earning revenue by selling surplus power to distribution companies.

In September 2023, Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency issued a tender for the appointment of vendors for installation and commissioning of offgrid solar photovoltaic pumps with capacities ranging between 1 HP and 7.5 HP as a part of component B of the PM-KUSUM.

In the same month, Shakti Pumps announced that it secured an order from Haryana Renewable Energy Department Agency for 7,781 pumps under PM-KUSUM.
