The Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) has approved an additional surcharge to Rs 1.05 per kWh for consumers availing energy through open access from October 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024.
Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited had requested an extra surcharge of Rs 1.22 per kWh in its petition. In order to prevent any confusion among industry participants and to facilitate better planning, states usually update these extra surcharges every year. The bi-annual adjustment of Uttarakhand’s additional fee would directly impact the final cost incurred by developers.
In August 2023, the current generic rate of Rs 4.64 per kWh for 2023–2024 for solar projects assigned under the Mukhyamantri Saur Swarojgar Yojna programme had been extended by the UERC for three years, till March 31, 2026. The tariff would be applicable for the commissioning year after the end of these three years.
