NHPC issues EPC tender for 40 MW solar project in Odisha

NHPC has issued a request for proposals (RfPs) for an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) order to establish a 40 MW solar project, together with the relevant transmission line for integration at 220 kV Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited’s transmission system. The project will be situated in the Ganjam district of Odisha.

According to the tender provisions, the bidders are required to look after operations and maintenance of the project for a period of five years.  The bidders are also required to furnish an earnest money deposit equaling Rs 30 million. Within 28 days of receiving the letter of award, the developers are required to submit a performance bank guarantee equal to 3 per cent of the total contract value. The bid submission deadline is November 10, 2023.

To be eligible, bidders must be experienced either as an EPC contractor or as a developer in designing, supplying, erecting, and commissioning of at least one grid connected solar project with a capacity of 5 MW or more, out of a total capacity of 25 MW. Additionally, they should have worked on at least one electrical substation with a voltage level of 33 kV or higher that included components such as power transformers and 33 kV or higher voltage level circuit breakers. Before the deadline for bid submission, the substation must have been in operation for at least a year.

In August 2023, a MoU was signed between NHPC Limited and Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited for setting up renewable energy and pumped hydro storage projects in Andhra Pradesh. In the same month, a MoU was signed between NHPC Limited and RITES for setting up NHPC’s 2,800 MW railway siding for Dibang’s multipurpose project at Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh.
