NGEL and Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port sign MoU for green hydrogen hub

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has signed a MoU with Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, an independent organisation under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, to set up a green hydrogen hub. The project will be situated in Kolkata.

NTPC has a total installed capacity of more than 73 GW. NGEL is working on projects to increase the capacity of clean energy sources, such as green hydrogen and energy storage. With 3.2 GW installed capacity and more than 20 GW in the pipeline, the NTPC Group aims to reach its 60 GW of clean energy capacity by 2032.

Recently, in September 2023, NGEL floated a tender to appoint consultants, including designated operational entity to validate and verify a 50 MW solar power project in Rajgarh city of Rajasthan till December 31, 2020.

In the same month, NGEL and Nayara Energy signed a MoU to explore prospects in green hydrogen and the clean energy space and to work together to manufacture green hydrogen for captive use by Nayara Energy and to expedite decarbonisation and carbon footprint reduction.
