Sterlite acquires Beawer Transmission for clean energy transmission project in Rajasthan

Sterlite Power has announced the acquisition of Beawer Transmission Limited, a subsidiary of REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited, for setting up clean energy transmission project in Rajasthan. The project has been won under tariff-based competitive bidding process. The project will be developed on the basis of build, own, operate, transfer model for a period of 35 years through Beawer Transmission Limited. This order is Sterlite Power’s nineteenth energy transmission project in the State. Through this endeavor, Sterlite Power would be managing projects valued at Rs 120 billion.

The project entails building three essential parts: a 350 km long transmission line, connecting 765 kV transmission corridor from Fatehgarh III’s renewable energy zone to the substation at Beawar, a 3,000 MVA 765/400 kV substation at Beawar, and two line-in line-out lines totalling about 120 km in length. The project also involves the installation of the STATCOM system at the Fatehgarh III substation. The company is India’s first private transmission infrastructure developer to implement a STATCOM.

In May 2023, Sterlite Copper partnered with Serentica Renewables India to develop a captive hybrid renewable energy project to supply 16 MW of green power to its Silvassa Unit.

In March 2023, Sterlite Power had been awarded the transmission project for evacuation of power from renewable energy zones in Rajasthan under Phase-III Part G.
