NGEL invites consultants to validate 50 MW solar project

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has floated a tender to appoint consultants, including designated operational entity (DOE) to validate and verify a 50 MW solar power project in Rajgarh city of Rajasthan till December 31, 2020. In order to continue obtaining advantages from the clean development mechanism (CDM) and carbon credits, the project must be renewed for a further seven years.

According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work under the project includes offering support for the project’s verification, in line with the appropriate rules and guidelines. The consultant will be responsible for the appointment of project’s auditor or verifier or DOE from a list of auditors or verifiers that have been approved by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change board. The consultant must provide technical assistance during verification in accordance with authorised project documents and processes. A certified emission reductions report must be provided to the CDM board post verification. Furthermore, according to the project design document and monitoring plan, the consultant will evaluate the site, examine pre-verification activities on-site or remotely, and engage with project executives about the monitoring and verification requirements.

Additionally, within 15 days of receiving the letter of award, the successful bidder must furnish a performance bank guarantee equaling 10 per cent of total value of the contract. Only class I and class II local suppliers are allowed to take part in this tender. The bid submission deadline is September 25, 2023.

In September 2023, NGEL and Nayara Energy signed a MoU to manufacture green hydrogen for captive use by Nayara Energy and to expedite decarbonisation and carbon footprint reduction.

In July 2023, NTPC Limited issued a request for proposals for establishing inter-state transmission system connected solar power projects of capacity 1.5 GW that can be built anywhere in India.
