JSERC allows JBVNL to purchase power from 100 MW floating solar project

The Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission (JSERC) has allowed Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) to purchase power from 100 MW floating solar project at a ceiling tariff of Rs 3.5 per kWh or less, in order to meet its renewable purchase obligation (RPO). The project is situated at the Getalsud dam in Ranchi.

Additionally, the JSERC has directed the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to submit a petition for tariff determination following the project’s commissioning. Furthermore, JBVNL and the SECI had submitted a joint petition for the approval of the provisional power purchase agreement (PPA) to procure power from the 100 MW floating solar project.

In August 2023, the Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (JREDA) issued a request for proposals for installation and commissioning of 8,000 agricultural solar pumps. In May 2023, JREDA requested bids for the five-year operation and maintenance of 68 mini and micro solar systems totaling 1.39 MW.
