Cleantech Solar begins operations of its solar plant in India

CleanTech Solar has announced the commercial operation of its maiden virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA). The electricity generated by the operational solar power facility in India is sold to the energy exchange. The project has been enrolled under the international renewable energy certificates system, and the renewable attributes derived from this project are being acquired by a FMCG company through a VPPA. This is India’s first ever operational VPPA plant.

This project will provide about 187 GWh of green energy over its lifetime, which is equivalent to offsetting roughly 171 kilo tonnes of carbon emissions. With the help of this agreement, the client can promote the use of renewable energy sources while lowering their carbon footprint without having to physically include the solar project into their physical energy infrastructure.

In July 2023, Cleantech Solar announced signing of long-term power purchase agreements with leading commercial and industrial customers in Tamil Nadu to develop 60 MWp of open access solar photovoltaic projects. These projects are being built in Tirunelveli district.

In April 2023, Cleantech Solar announced the signing of 25 MW of wind projects for global industrial manufacturers at its upcoming wind parks in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
