Winners announced for Tata Power’s 225 MW wind-solar hybrid auction

Results for Tata Power’s auction to develop 225 MW of grid-connected wind-solar hybrid projects, both interstate and intrastate, with an additional 225 MW greenshoe option on a long-term basis have been announced. Juniper Green Energy and Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) have emerged as winners in the auction with each having won a capacity of 75 MW and 150 MW at a tariff of Rs 3.27 per kWh and Rs 3.28 per kWh, respectively. Tata Power will allocate the remaining 225 MW capacity under the greenshoe option soon. The tender was issued in June 2023.

The developer will be responsible for evacuation of power to the delivery point, which includes absorption of transmission losses and energy accounting infrastructure. Furthermore, TATA Power has mandated the use of indigenously manufactured solar modules listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers. Additionally, under the tender, only wind-turbine models issued by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, listed in Revised list of Models and Manufacturers will be allowed.

Recently, in September 2023, TPREL signed a power supply agreement with Chalet Hotels Limited, an asset manager, developer, owner, operator of hotels & resorts across India, for a group captive plant with a capacity of 6 MW AC.

In the same month, TP Alpha Limited signed a power supply agreement with Sanyo Special Steel Manufacturing India for a captive solar plant with a capacity of 28.125 MW AC (39.375 MWp DC). The facility is located in Aachegaon, Solapur district of Maharashtra.
