TP Alpha Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has signed a power supply agreement with Sanyo Special Steel Manufacturing India (SSMI) for a captive solar plant with a capacity of 28.125 MW AC (39.375 MWp DC). The facility is located in Aachegaon, Solapur district of Maharashtra.
The plant is expected to produce 61.875 million units of power annually in order to meet power requirements of SSMI’s unit. The solar energy produced from the Aachegaon facility will help in reducing carbon emissions of SSMI by 42,534 tonnes per year. This project aligns with SSMI’s goal of reducing dependence on non-renewable sources of energy by producing green steel and meeting the National Green Energy policy objectives. The project is scheduled to be commissioned by March 2024.
Recently in August 2023, TPREL signed power purchase agreements for a 200 MW and 150 MW solar project with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited. The projects are situated in Maharashtra.
Earlier in March 2023, TPREL signed a power purchase agreement with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) for 510 MW hybrid projects. The project will help to save an average of 1,540 MUs of carbon dioxide emissions annually for TPDDL.
