Pavagada solar park set to expand by 3,000 MW

The Karnataka Solar Power Development Corporation Limited (KSPDCL) has decided to expand its Pavagada solar park with a 3,000 MW capacity addition. The solar park is located in Tumkur district of Karnataka with existing capacity of 2,050 MW. For developing the two solar power plants, the agency has invited expressions of interest to obtain land on lease from landholders in two villages of Tumkur district.

Furthermore, the KSPDCL will set up solar power plant with a capacity of 2,500 MW near the Ryapte Gram Panchayat area. While, another 500 MW solar plant will be set up near the Inturayanhalli panchayat. The agency will require 10,000 acres and 20,000 acres of contiguous land parcels to develop solar parks in Rapte and Inturayanhalli village, respectively.

In June 2023, Saatvik Green Energy secured an engineering, procurement, and construction contract of 8.08 MW DC (6.5 MW AC) solar power project for a cement and power conglomerate. This ground-mounted project would be installed on 22 acres of land in Karnataka.

Earlier in May 2023, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation requested proposals from contractors to establish two solar projects totaling 3.6 MW in the Karnataka towns of Yediyur and Hiriyur. The company issued two tenders for capacities of 1.7 MW and 1.9 MW.
