SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a subsidiary of SJVN Limited, has bagged an order to set up three solar power plants with cumulative capacity of 320 MW. The projects have been awarded by Assam Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APDCL) and will be set up on the basis of build, own, operate model.
Two projects of capacities 50 MW and 70 MW will be implemented in Dhekiajuli and Dhubri, respectively under the solar park category and have been won at a tariff of Rs 3.92 per kWh. While another project of capacity 200 MW can be implemented anywhere in Assam at a tariff of Rs 3.90 per kWh. The projects have an estimated cost of Rs 19 billion.
As per the notification, SGEL will sign a 25-year power purchase agreement with APDCL. The projects are expected to produce 628 million units of electricity in the first year and 14,951 million units cumulatively during the 25-year period. SGEL is required to look after operations and maintenance for a period of five years. The company is also required to furnish a performance bank guarantee of Rs 2.02 million per MW for each of the projects. Furthermore, SGEL must maintain capacity utilisation factor at 16.21 per cent annually. The company must commission the project by March 2025, that is within 18 months of PPA being signed.
Recently, in August 2023, SGEL secured Omkareshwar floating solar project with a capacity of 90 MW at a tariff of Rs 3.79 per kWh.
Earlier in July 2023, SJVN Limited was allocated five hydro-electric projects in Arunachal Pradesh. The five projects were: Attunli – 980 MW, Amulin – 420 MW, Etalin – 3,097 MW, and Mihumdom – 400 MW which are located on Dibang River tributaries with a combined generation capacity of 5,097 MW.
