A MoU has been signed between NHPC Limited and RITES, a central public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, to build railway siding for Dibang’s multipurpose project. The MoU envisages setting up NHPC’s 2,800 MW project at Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh. As a project management consultant for NHPC’s Dibang and other forthcoming projects in Arunachal Pradesh, RITES will provide solutions for improving rail infrastructure facilities.
Presently, NHPC has 25 power plants with a total installed capacity of 7,097.2 MW of renewable energy including wind and solar power, comprising 1,520 MW through subsidiaries.
In July 2023, NHPC Limited invited bids for the engineering, procurement and construction of a 200 MW solar PV project at Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat. The project will be built at Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited’s 600 MW solar park (stage 1).
In the same month, NHPC Limited signed a MoU with GRIDCO Odisha for development of pumped storage projects and renewable energy in Odisha. The MoU envisages setting up self-identified pumped storage projects of at least 2,000 MW and renewable energy projects of at least 1,000 MW in the state.
