Bangladesh to build 50 MW solar project

A consortium of Ask New Energy Company Limited, AJ Power Company Limited, and ATN Solutions Limited has been given a contract to build a 50 MW solar project. The project will be located in Nilphamari District, Dimla, northwestern Bangladesh. The project will be set up on the basis of a build-own-operate model. The power obtained from the plant will be sold to the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) at a tariff of 0.098 per kWh. The companies will sign the power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years.

In June 2023, Amara Raja Infra was awarded a contract to develop a 100 MW solar facility in Bangladesh. The contract was secured from the Rural Power Company. The project will be developed by Amara Raja in association with solar module maker Premier Solar Powertech.

In January 2023, Rays Power Infra announced the completion of a 275 MW (DC) grid-connected solar power plant in Sundarganj, Gaibandha, Bangladesh. The project, which spans 600 acres of land (ten times the size of the Sydney Cricket Stadium in Australia), will power 5 lac households in Bangladesh and offset over 375 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to 250,000 fuel engine cars.
