Tata Power has signed a MoU with the government of Maharashtra to set up two large pumped hydro storage projects in the state. The aggregate capacity of the two projects is 2,800 MW. The two projects of capacities, 1,800 MW and 1,000 MW will be situated at Shirawata, Pune district and Bhivpuri, Raigad district, respectively. The projects will be built at an investment of Rs 130 billion. The partnership is expected to creat jobs for more than 6,000 people.
In July 2023, Tata Power notified that it received a letter of award from the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited to set up a smart metering project in the Raipur area of Chhattisgarh.
In June 2023, Tata Power Renewable Energy was granted a letter of award to build a 966 MW hybrid renewable power plant for Tata Steel through its subsidiary, TP Vardhaman Surya. The RTC hybrid project will have 379 MW of solar and 587 MW of wind generation capacity.
