Winners announced for RUMSL’s 300 MW floating solar auction

Results have been announced for Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited’s (RUMSL’s) auction to develop 300 MW, Phase II floating solar park at Omkareshwar reservoir, Madhya Pradesh. NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), Hinduja Renewables Energy, and SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) have emerged as winners in the auction. NTPC REL and Hinduja Renewables each won a capacity of 80 MW at a tariff of Rs 3.8 per kWh and Rs 3.89 per kWh, respectively. While SJVN Green Energy won a capacity of 90 MW at a tariff of Rs 3.79 per kWh. The projects will be set up on the basis of a build, own, operate model.

The power evacuation infrastructure will be provided by RUMSL for interconnecting the projects to the delivery point. Furthermore, the developers are required to enter into a power purchase agreement with Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company for a period of 25 years.

In May 2023, RUMSL issued request for proposals to allot sites for a total of 13.8 GW of pumped hydro storage development in Madhya Pradesh. According to a notification, there are a total of 12 sites available for the construction of pumped hydro storage capacities ranging from capacities between 600 MW to 2 GW.

In November 2022, RUMSL requested bids from consultants to prepare a detailed project report for developing the Morena wind-solar hybrid project with energy storage in Madhya Pradesh.
