Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust, a renewables investment company and an investment arm of Octopus Renewables, has announced an investment of up to $2.5 million to build solar and battery storage projects in the UK.
With the initial goal is of developing more than 350 MW of capacity, BLC Energy will utilise its knowledge of the electricity grid and plans to build co-located battery storage and ground-mounted solar projects. The specific location within the UK is yet to be decided.
In May 2023, Octopus Energy committed to invest in three wind farms in France with a total capacity of 49 MW. Octopus made the investment as part of its plan to invest $1.09 billion in the French green energy industry between 2023 and 2025. The three wind farms, Croix Erable, Bertaut, and Le Langrois, would provide enough clean energy to power 30,000 French households.
