Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVN Limited) has been allocated five hydro-electric projects in Arunachal Pradesh. The five projects are as follows: Attunli – 980 MW, Amulin – 420 MW, Etalin – 3,097 MW, and Mihumdom – 400 MW which are located on Dibang River tributaries with a combined generation capacity of 5,097 MW.
A total investment of Rs 500 billion as been planned for the projects. In addition, 1.1 million tonnes of carbon emissions are expected to be reduced by the development of the projects.
Recently, in July 2023, a contract worth Rs 70 billion had been awarded to SJVN Limited by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited for the establishment of 1,200 MW of solar projects. Of this, 1 GW of projects will be developed anywhere across India by SJVN Green Energy Limited for Rs 2.53 per unit, while the remaining 200 MW will be developed in Punjab for Rs 2.53 per unit. A build-own-operate model will be used to set up the solar projects.
In the same month, SJVN Limited announced the signing of power purchase agreements for 300 MW of renewable energy projects. SGEL inked a purchase power agreement with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited for 200 MW of solar projects, and another with Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited for 100 MW of wind power.
