NITI Aayog, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and Agora Verkehrswende collaborated and released a report titled “Towards Decarbonising Transport 2023: A Stocktake on Sectoral Ambition in the G20.” The study examines the current state of decarbonisation and climate ambition in G20 transport sectors. Given India’s G20 leadership in 2023 and emerging intergovernmental conferences in 2022 (Indonesia) and 2024 (Brazil), it aspires to assist worldwide discussions about sustainable mobility.
It further emphasises on efforts to meet the goals outlined in international climate treaties, particularly the Paris Agreement and the Glasgow Declaration. It outlines G20 countries’ mitigation measures for the transport sector and describes their progress in decarbonising the transport sector through 2022.
