GreenH Electrolysis to establish 1 GW PEM electrolyser plant in India

GreenH Electrolysis, a joint venture between India-based GR Group, and Spain-based H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies is setting up its first, 1 GW, PEM electrolyser manufacturing plant in India. The company has already acquired a 97,000-square-foot facility in Reliance MET Industrial Park, Jhajjar district of Haryana with the installation of its first phase underway. The company is expected to start operations by October 2023.

H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies is in charge of providing the technology for the plant. The initial capacity of the plant will be 100 MW, and GreenH Electrolysis intends to grow it up to 500 MW in two years quickly. Furthermore, it is planning to increase the capacity to 1 GW of capacity in Phase 2.

In November 2022, GreenH Electrolysis announced its plans for development of the green hydrogen production plants based on off-taker agreements and manufacture water-based electrolysers. It planned to cover the entire hydrogen value chain, including innovation, design, engineering, manufacturing, integration, financing, and support for modular hydrogen production systems and industrial solutions capabilities.

In January 2023, the National Green Hydrogen Mission, with an initial investment of Rs 197.44 billion, was approved by the Union Cabinet to help with the development of demand, production, use, and export of green hydrogen.
