GMR Smart Electricity Distribution Limited (GSEDPL) has been awarded an order to install, integrate and maintain smart meters across Uttar Pradesh. Of the total approximately 7.6 million smart meters, 2.3 million smart meters will be installed across Mirzapur and Prayagraj, 2.6 million will be deployed in Aligarh and Agra while 2.7 million will be deployed in Azamgarh and Varanasi. The project has been won at a contract price Rs 75.93 billion.
The scope of the work includes design, supply, installation, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of smart meters including distribution transformers and consumer premises. GSEDPL will be responsible for operations and maintenance of the smart meters for a period of 10 years. The company has already signed the contract with the distribution companies. The projects are going to be implemented on a Design, Build, Finance, Own, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOOT) basis.
In July 2023, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) completed the installation of its second phase 5 MW solar power plant. It had commissioned another 5 MW solar project in 2015 for its captive use. This latest development takes GHIAL’s total solar power capacity to 10 MW.
