SECI floats bids for supply of 1 GW of solar modules

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has floated bids for the manufacturing, testing, packaging, supply, and transportation of 1,000 MW (DC) of domestically manufactured solar modules made using domestically manufactured solar cells under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Programme II (Tranche -III). According to the tender guidelines, the bidders must submit Rs 270 million and Rs 540 million for the 500 MW package and 1,000 MW package respectively.

As a performance security, the successful bidder must provide a sum equal to 10 per cent of the contract value. The solar modules, including obligatory spares, must be supplied by the selected contractor within the nine-month delivery timeframe. Additionally, bidders can only quote capacities in 500 MW increments, with a maximum capacity of 1,000 MW. The deadline for proposal submissions is August 17, 2023.

In July 2023, SECI solicited bids to select renewable energy developers for the delivery of 500 MW of power from interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected renewable energy projects with storage facilities across India.

In the same month, SECI issued a tender titled “Selection of Green Hydrogen Producers for Setting up Production Facilities for Green Hydrogen in India under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Scheme (Mode-1-Tranche-I).” The total capacity to be allocated under this tender is 450,000 MT per annum of green hydrogen, and this capacity is divided into two buckets: Bucket 1 – 410,000 MT per annum under technology agnostic pathway and Bucket 2 – 40,000 MT per annum under biomass-based pathway.
